09:00 hrs – Pickup from your hotel, apartment, train station, or preferred location

After meeting your driver in Salzburg, begin your day with a scenic drive through quiet countryside roads. Along the way, pass the famous meadow featured in the opening scene of The Sound of Music. Continue towards Berchtesgaden, stopping briefly at one of the region’s most stunning panoramic viewpoints — perfect for photos.

From there, proceed to Obersalzberg to visit the historic Eagle’s Nest. Upon arrival, walk through the original tunnel leading to the impressive WWII-era brass elevator, which takes you directly up to the Eagle’s Nest.

Eagle’s Nest – 140 minutes free time to explore on your own

Enjoy approximately 140 minutes to discover the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) at your own pace. Perched at an altitude of 1,834 meters, this historic mountain retreat offers spectacular panoramic views of the Bavarian Alps.

Constructed in 1938 to commemorate Adolf Hitler’s 50th birthday, the site has become one of Bavaria’s most visited landmarks. Access to the Eagle’s Nest includes a walk through a 124-meter-long tunnel, leading to an impressive, ornately designed brass elevator that carries visitors up to the building.

With its unique history and breathtaking setting, the Eagle’s Nest promises a truly memorable experience.

Dokumentation Obersalzberg – 50 minutes to explore on your own

Spend around 50 minutes visiting the Dokumentation Obersalzberg museum at your own pace. Located near Berchtesgaden, this museum provides detailed information about how the Obersalzberg area was used by Nazi leaders, especially Adolf Hitler, who spent considerable time here starting in 1928.

The museum opened in 1999 and has welcomed a large number of visitors over the years.

After exploring the museum, continue your journey down to the mountain town of Berchtesgaden to visit the famous Salt Mine Berchtesgaden.

Salt Mine Berchtesgaden – 120 minutes to explore on your own

Enjoy around 120 minutes to discover the historic Salt Mine Berchtesgaden at your own pace. With more than 500 years of history, this mine offers a unique underground experience. A small mine train takes you about 650 meters deep into the mountain, where you will see the impressive Salt Cathedral.

Inside, you can slide down into the Stone Salt Grotto, where interactive displays and exhibits explain the history of salt mining in an interesting and easy way. Another exciting slide brings you to the beautiful underground Mirror Lake (Spiegelsee), which you cross by raft.

After your visit underground, return to daylight and take a short walk to the area where Hitler’s former residence, the Berghof, once stood.

The tour then continues to Königssee (King’s Lake), a stunning glacial lake surrounded by dramatic alpine mountains.

King’s Lake – 30 minutes to explore on your own

Spend about 30 minutes enjoying the world-famous Königssee (King’s Lake) at your own pace. Located within Berchtesgaden National Park in the municipality of Schönau am Königssee, this stunning mountain lake is known for its emerald green waters and dramatic surroundings.

Steep cliffs of the Berchtesgaden Alps drop almost vertically into the lake, which reaches depths of up to 192 meters. One of the most popular photo spots is the St. Bartholomew peninsula, home to its baroque pilgrimage church, with the majestic Watzmann mountain rising behind it.

After a short photo stop at the lake, enjoy a relaxed scenic drive along the Königssee River back to Salzburg, where the tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or a central location of your choice.

Hellbrunn Palace – 30 minutes to explore on your own

Schloss Hellbrunn, located in Salzburg, Austria, was built between 1613 and 1619 by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, the Prince Archbishop of Salzburg. The palace was named after the “clear spring” that provided its water. Hellbrunn was designed as a summer residence for daytime use, since the Archbishop would return to Salzburg in the evenings, so there are no bedrooms in the palace.

For more than 400 years, Schloss Hellbrunn has been famous for its unique trick fountains. These fountains are one-of-a-kind in the world. The palace’s beautiful setting, with water flowing from Hellbrunn Mountain, makes water a central part of its design. Even today, the trick fountains continue to amaze visitors.

Now, Schloss Hellbrunn is a popular tourist destination where people can enjoy its lovely gardens and fascinating water features.
