Tour Highlights

Itinerary

1. Werfen Ice Caves – 180 minutes to explore on your own

Experience a unique side of Salzburg with a visit to the Werfen Ice Caves, one of Europe’s largest ice cave networks. This trip is perfect for families and first-time visitors. Explore an underground world of spectacular natural ice formations and enjoy panoramic views of the Austrian Alps during the scenic drive to the caves.

2. Hohenwerfen Castle – 90 minutes to explore on your own

Visit this medieval rock castle, set on a 623-meter (2,044 ft) cliff overlooking the town of Werfen in the Salzach Valley, about 40 km south of Salzburg. Surrounded by the Berchtesgaden Alps and Tennen Mountains, Hohenwerfen Castle was built in the 11th century by the Archbishops of Salzburg and is considered a “sister” fortress to Hohensalzburg.

3. Eagle’s Nest – 140 minutes to explore on your own

The Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus) is a historic watchtower in Bavaria, offering stunning views of the Alps from 1,834 meters above sea level. Built in 1938 as a 50th birthday gift to Adolf Hitler, it is now one of the region’s most popular landmarks. To reach it, walk through a 124-meter-long tunnel that leads to an ornate brass elevator, which takes you to the top.

After visiting the Eagle’s Nest, enjoy a relaxed scenic drive back to Salzburg, where the tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel or a central location of your choice.

Renting a car from nova ride was a great decision. Not only did I get a reliable and comfortable vehicle, but the prices were also very competitive.
